A passionate, enthusiastic team
Design Collective was conceived in 2003 by Adam and Vanessa Griffiths to provide world-beating identity, print and web/multimedia design to the small and medium business and enterprise of Auckland and New Zealand at sensible and manageable cost.
Having both worked previously for start-ups and incubators, we knew that the image/identity (brand) of new business was paramount to it’s success, but so rarely well considered and realised.
We manage this through keeping our internal costs and overheads low and by creating teams on a per project basis. When (for example) a project needs an illustrator, we choose the right one for the job and contract them only for as long as needed. You get the best person for the job, and don’t pay the overheads of us keeping them on full time.

Adam Griffiths
Adam’s previous experience includes brand creation, design and management for Argent Networks, a large telecommunications software company (in which he was also responsible for the design of their products front-end and usability), product development for a large web-hosting company in London, and the on-line presence of the Conservative Party of the United Kingdom.
Adam previously spent a year tutoring Digital Media at Auckland’s renown Media Design School and continues to maintain a close relationship with the school.
Adam has been project managing, designing and building for the web since 1998/99. His core skills include PHP/MySQL, HTML, CSS and WordPress. He dabbles in Linux and Open Source projects.
Vanessa Griffiths
Vanessa has a wealth of design experience and knowledge gathered from working with a number of companies both within New Zealand and internationally.
She has exceptional skills in concept development, visual design, image production, photo direction and web design and development, and creates consistent online and print branding for all of our clients.
Finally…
Design Collective has worked with both startups and large, well-established firms and corporations. Some of the more prominent clients have been: The New Zealand Automobile Association, The University of Auckland, Family Planning, Auckland Regional Migrant Services, South Pacific Pictures, Showdown Productions and Liquid Automation. Projects have included brand development, web site design, advertisements, brochures, sales literature and web application/software design.
